This game features Jodie Holmes, one of the two player characters. The other is an intangible entity named Aiden. It is a separate soul associated with Jodie since birth. Jodie, portrayed by actress Ellen Page, possesses supernatural powers through psychic connections with Aiden, from adolescence through adulthood, learning to control Aiden and the powers they share.
Willem Dafoe is a co-star of Nathan Dawkins (researcher of the Department of Abnormal Activity and Jodie's surrogate mother-father figure). The actors performed voice action and motion capture postponed to a one-year project at Quantic Dream's Paris studio.

Beyond Two Souls gameplay
Despite being a video game, Beyond: Two Souls premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2013, making the video game second in the festival. David Cage, author and game director, said the game development studio should provide "interactive storytelling" that everyone, including non-gamers, can enjoy.
The game received a critical treatment that was biased when it was released. Two years later, the PlayStation 4 version was released as a standalone title and then released as the 2010 title Heavy Rain in the Quantic Dream Collection. The Beyond Two Souls version for Microsoft Windows will be released on July 22, 2019.
